THURSDAY, May 28, 2009Mansueto Ventures Names Bob LaPointe President of Inc. and acquires Trendline Communications
New York, May 28, 2009 - Mansueto Ventures announced today the appointment of Bob LaPointe as President of Inc. magazine. La Pointe joins Mansueto Ventures's Executive Committee, alongside CFO Mark Rosenberg, Fast Company Editor Robert Safian, and Inc. Editor Jane Berentson. Mansueto Ventures will also acquire LaPointe's current company, Trendline Communications, and brings two Trendline executives to Inc.: Jon Feld and Melissa Stern.
"Mansueto Ventures's acquisition of Trendline and the hiring of Bob, Jon and Melissa will allow the company to be even more aggressive in pursuing new business opportunities, and illustrates our commitment to expand the influence of both the Inc. and Fast Company brands," the Executive Committee said in a statement.
The appointments will be officially announced later today at a staff meeting at Mansueto Ventures's New York headquarters. Below are professional biographies of LaPointe, Feld, and Stern:
Bob LaPointe, President, Inc.
Bob has been involved in product development and marketing in the small business market for more than 30 years. After joining Inc. at its inception in 1979 as Circulation Director and building the magazine's readership from zero to more than 650,000, Bob launched and ran Inc. Business Resources, a division then comprised of all of Inc.'s non-magazine businesses, including conferences, newsletters, and inc.com. Bob left Inc. in 2001 to start his own business, Trendline Communications, based in Boston, which created content platforms for Fortune 500 companies focused on selling into the small business market. Trendline is being acquired by Mansueto Ventures and merged into its operations. Bob will be overseeing all of Inc.'s business-side departments and will be working out of both New York and Boston.
Jon Feld, Editorial Director, Inc. Business Resources
Previously the Editorial Director at Trendline Communications, Jon has been involved in the publishing industry since 1981. He has created editorial platforms for a wide range of custom media communications programs including corporate newsletters and magazines, corporate marketing initiatives, and digital publications. He's directed programs for B2C and B2B clients including
Wells Fargo, Verizon, IBM, DHL and AT&T. Jon will be working out of Boston.
Melissa Stern, Account Manager, Inc. Business Resources
Previously the lead Account Manager at Trendline Communications, Melissa draws on 15 years experience as a Media Director, Planner and Buyer. She brings an extensive background in retail and brand marketing/media planning, working with a variety of national and local brands. Before joining Trendline Melissa was with Mullen, Cleveland Communications and Pro Media. Melissa will be working out of Boston.
